I went to see Iron Maiden the other day, and apparently the noise was too much for me. I’ve had this hypersensitivity to sound ever since. The sound of the ventilation in the bathroom is genuinely painful, and listening to music is.. uncomfortable.
I don’t know if it’s actually hyperacusis and/or tinnitus yet, but it’s been going on for a few days now, and hasn’t really gotten better. I’m really hoping it passes eventually, but I’m starting to think that’s just not going to happen.. lol.
I honestly never thought I would damage my ears so early on in life, especially not at an Iron Maiden concert that I didn’t even want to go to. The sound of the music itself didn’t bother me too much but the crowd screaming is what really hurt at the time.
This kind of just sucks for me because I love music so much, and now it’s all distorted and it hurts to listen to. I’ve read about how it can become less unpleasant through gradual exposure therapy, so I might eventually try that.
Anyway, I just wanted to quickly write down my feelings to get my frustration out, shoutout to anyone with hyperacusis.
