Isabella Lovestory in Bern

25/11/2025

I made a little list of all the artists and bands I really wanted to see live at some point in my life a while ago and just kept it to myself. Isabella Lovestory happened to be at the top of the list, and when she announced her tour dates I was genuinely shocked to see that she was coming to Switzerland!

She was going to perform at this venue I’ve been wanting to go to for a while! Grosse Halle, located right in the cultural center ‘Reitschule’ was holding the ‘United Queer Feminist Festival’ and Isabella Lovestory was performing there!

I knew I’d want to bring a friend so I went ahead and just bought two tickets as soon as they were put on sale. Fast-forward to a day before the actual concert, my friend cancels last-minute and I have to contact everyone I know because there is NO WAY I’m going alone and wasting a ticket at the same time! Thankfully, someone was free and willing to go (shoutout to my neighbor-friend) so that situation was taken care of.

We headed to Bern a little early so we could have dinner and a few drinks beforehand. We went to this vegan burger place which was really nice, just pretty busy on a Saturday night. For some reason it was hot as hell in that restaurant so we rushed to finish our food and got out as soon as possible.

After that, we checked out this bar that used to be a cinema since it was in the same area. The prices were a little insane (CHF17 for most drinks.. woah) but they give you free water as soon as you sit down and the shots are priced like at any other bar so I guess that balances it out? LOL. We had a few drinks and just talked for a bit until it was time to head to the festival.

When we got there it wasn’t too full, there was a really interesting performance being put on by a group of people, involving a lot of pearls and chains. They were doing slam poetry, acapella, dance, and just a bunch of different stuff. It was almost like live ASMR at some points.

When it was over, we went to get drinks at the little bar inside of the venue. Another performer came down from the balcony right behind the bar and kind of just walked in the crowd while some music played. I’m not entirely sure what was going on lol but it was still pretty entertaining. It ended pretty quickly though, so we just waited for the next performance to start.

After a bit of wait, a DJ pops up on the main stage and starts playing Sexyy Red. After about 12 minutes of that, G La Sosita goes on stage and starts her performance. I remember hearing her producer tag on Instagram reels (THIS IS A CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC, PUTA) but I knew next to nothing about her. She was really cute though, and seeing her live was a really fun experience!

A few minutes after her performance ended, two people hanging from the ceiling by the hair on their heads began their performance on a smaller stage. Everyone moved to see them up close but I stayed so I could be at the front for the next concert. They were amazing, I have no idea how they even have the courage to do this sort of thing, and the song choice was so good, I had to open Shazam for the first time in years to look that song up later.

Once that was over, people started moving back to the main stage and it was time for Isabella Lovestory to perform! I secured my spot, right behind this girl who knew all the lyrics and was singing along the entire time. I’ve never been so physically close to any artist at a concert before, so this was really new to me!

She was amazing, I’m so grateful I ended up making it to this festival because it was honestly life-changing! She’s an insanely good performer, just super entertaining to watch, and I loved all the crowd interaction. During the encore, she came down and danced with a bunch of people in the crowd, it was so nice to be a part of that! <3 My friend also enjoyed her concert a lot more than he initially thought he would. I don’t think going with any other person would’ve been as fun, so I’m glad he’s who I ended up going with!

As soon as the concert ended we headed outside for some air, and just chatted for a little while before heading back in for the DJ sets. I think there was a drag show going on while we were outside and I’m a little sad about having missed that but we really did need that fresh air so it’s not a big deal.

We stayed at the venue until like 2 in the morning, when we both were feeling a little hungry. We walked around in the fog for a little while before looking for any food places that were still open at night. It was really nice to see a city at night covered in fog, I took so many pretty pictures!

After our little photo session, we looked for kebab places online and found one along this street which seems to be very active at night. Every restaurant was still open until late there, and there were half-empty bottles of alcohol, shot glasses, and tons of plastic just left around that area. The food was seriously delicious, and while we were eating these suspicious students came up to us and tried to sell us art prints, and I just gave them 2 francs. They were definitely taking advantage of random drunk people on the streets at night lol but whatever. I hope they enjoyed my tiny donation.

We then headed home. I fell asleep at 4:30 in the morning, and it took me a week to recover from that night lol. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
